About Archaeology MS, Inc.

Archaeology Mississippi, Inc. is a professional consulting cultural resource management firm with over 50 years of combined experience in all phases of archaeological reconnaissance. AMI provides professional archaeological and surveying services to both public and private clients throughout the State of Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama and Tennessee.

James Lauro, owner, established Archaeology Mississippi, Inc. after a ten year employment with the Mississippi Department of Archives & History as Staff Archaeologist coming from Providence, Rhode Island. AMI has maintained a very good working relationship with the Department to this day. Mr. Lauro has also served as adjunct professor of Anthropology at Millsaps College from 1988 to 1997.

AMI's staff is made up of 2 archaeologists with master degrees, 1 archaeologist with a bachelor degree, 1 staff geomorpholist/geologist with a PhD, and 1 archaeological technician. In addition, AMI employs a full-time administrative assistant/accountant who assists with all report preparations and tracking time and expenses for all projects. AMI maintains a list of archaeologists who are available to assist on a project-to-project basis as needed.

AMI maintains General Liability, Employer's Liability, Automobile Liability, and Workers' Compensation insurance. Insurance certificates are included as part of this proposal.

AMI's staff has prepared numerous projects for highway and transportation improvements, industrial development and expansion, and Post-Katrina water and wastewater treatment projects, to name a few.

Our offices and laboratory are located in the capital city of Jackson. Jackson, Mississippi was chosen due to its central location and close proximity to the Mississippi Department of Archives & History, Mississippi Department of Transportation, and other state and federal offices.
